Our History

In April 2010, Pastors Sherman and Audrey Shelley were led by God to start Hope Lighthouse Christian Church (HLCC). They were commissioned to go into the Somerville and Cambridge communities and share the transforming and life changing message of the Gospel. With the leading of the Holy Spirit and encouragement from family and friends, they began holding Sunday services at the Somerville Boys and Girls Club. Their journey continued in 2012, when HLCC moved to Cambridge. For the next seven years they held their worship services, community activities and events at the Community Art Center. In 2019, HLCC moved back to Somerville and into its current location.

Pastor Sherman and Audrey are committed to their relationship with Jesus Christ and to see that unfolding practically in their work of building families, loving their neighbors, and restoring their community.  They continue to teach and preach biblical principles for everyday living while seeking to establish new connections and be a light for those that are drifting into deep waters of darkness. As Pastor Sherman and Audrey continue to navigate through life, God is still writing their story. They are on a mission to help people come to know God and his unfailing love, so that they may know the purpose that God has designed for their lives.

Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. Matthew 5:16 KJV
